Tangerang, August 1, 2021 – PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta (JAS Airport Services) utilizes thermal blankets during the handling of 3,5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine that arrived Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Cargo Terminal on Sunday (1/8), to guarantee the integrity of temperature sensitive cargo products in improving cargo handling quality.
“The Thermal Blanket is used to prevent temperature spike during the process while handling the shipping of perishable goods such as Covid-19 vaccine, from the aircraft unloading and refrigerated trucks loading process,” said Corporate Communication & PR Manager PT JAS, Ageng Wibowo, during the arrival of 3.5 doses of Moderna vaccine in Soekarno-Hatta’s Cargo Terminal, Tangerang, Minggu (1/8).
During the arrival process, JAS Airport Services equipped its facilities with a ‘Thermal Blanket’, a special layer of material made to keep the temperature of the cargo cool by covering all parts of the cargo, in maintaining the integrity of the vaccine during the process, considering it is currently become a part of the national priority in accelerating the covid-19 vaccinations program.
Besides ‘Thermal Blankets’ JAS Airport Services recently added two Refrigerated Queue Lines (RQL) and a 1.800 m3 Refrigerated Enclosed Area (REA) in its cargo warehouse cold room facility to improve and support cold chain system.
The arrival of the recent Moderna vaccine marks the 32nd stage of the Moderna vaccine with the Covax dose sharing scheme from the United States (US), after previously JAS Airport Services handled more than 30 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine since early February 2021 including Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Moderna.
JAS is committed to cooperate and supporting Indonesian airport operator Angkasa Pura, Indonesian’s Customs and the air cargo community, by investing in and improving the handling of air cargo warehouses at the gates of Indonesia’s main airports which will benefit not only airports but also cities and Indonesia.
As part of the international cold chain process through Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, JAS works closely with airport authorities and the cargo community, committed to high-end services and facilities to reliably handle and maintain the integrity of such cargo, especially vaccine cargo.
Currently, JAS has 11 cold storage facilities in both import and export warehouses, with controlled temperatures ranging from -2 OC to -25 OC (for freezer rooms), 2 OC to 8 OC (for chillers rooms) and 15 OC to 25 OC (for cold rooms).
